Greg samples the death-defying heights of the Hangover trail in Sedona, Arizona. This is a singletrack mountain bike trail with steep exposures – one false move and you’re a goner!
Riding his Kona Process dual suspension mountain bike, Greg shows you his POV footage of Hangover Trail.
The most beautiful free campsite we’ve stayed at so far. For more details of where we traveled on our #flightofthesnowbirds escapade, see the map below…

Finally arrived to sunshine and warmer temps! Monterey was a great weekend stop. We explored the seawall by bike and camped out at a great, inexpensive municipal campground. We then headed further south to continue the summery weather. While in Joshua Tree area we encountered an intense dust storm! That was a first.

We left Canada and headed through Washington, Oregon, and California along the 101 on the way to seek warmer, drier climes. This is the first week on the road of our trip south for the winter of 2017/18. We boondocked at rest areas and in parking lots with a side trip to visit friends in Port Orford (if you’re in Oregon, be sure to check out Port Orford Sustainable Seafood!). This is how you become snowbirds: head south until you find sunshine and warmth!

The plan: leave Canada and head south for the winter.
Here’s our Google map that we’ve been working on. If you’ve been following our journeys you’ll see a difference in this map – we’re differentiating map markers using coloured icons. You’ll see bike markers for mountain biking trail heads; picnic table icons for places we might overnight that are public spaces such as picnic areas or beaches; parking icons for stop overs such as Walmarts and casinos; and other icons such as libraries or wifi spots where we can work. We’ll probably add water and sani-stations as we find them.
